28/03/2022|Week 01
Lecture 01:Module Briefing  

Today is the first day of class, we are briefed by Mr.Fauzi regarding this module, and were instructed to make an E-portfolio as this was where we would keep track of all projects and exercises for this semester.

We were then briefed on a short exercise for our composition studies in collage. we were to make a collage composition using magazines, newspapers, comics, etc.

Lecture 02:Introduction to Motion Graphics

Today Mr. Fauzi walked us through what motion graphics is, which

can be simply put as the animation of graphics/text. A vital element in motion graphics is typography which can be used to communicate to the viewers.

Composition is the arrangement of 8 elements namely, 

1. Movement

2. Hierarchy

3. Balance

4. Direction

5. Symmetry 

6. Focus

7. Scale

8. Rhythm

Lecture 03:Composition toolkit/project 1 briefing

This week we used After Effects as our compositing software and were shown how to use the basic tools in After effects, we were then thought today's lecture which was on the elements of Composition.

Lecture 04:Kinetic Typography 

For this week learned about kinetic typography can simply be defined as the process of telling a story through typography, 

They are two main types of kinetic typography.

1. Motion Kinetic typography

2. Fluid typography

This week we learned the different animation techniques commonly used in Motion graphics.

PROJECT 1

PART PRE-COMPOSITION

11/04/2022|Week 03

For this project, we were given an After effects template on the elements of composition. The first four were done we were to do the last four elements.

I first started with Symmetry

For Symmetry i began with making two squares first then i removed the fill and switched the positioning uniformly from left to right as the switch was made the color changed, I added a circle to make it unique and not bland.

Finally, for Rhythm, I duplicated and rearranged the squares and synced them so they move at the same time. And further inverted the colors black and white. 

PART 2-COMPOSITION

After I had completed the first part I went on to do the second part which was the Composition of all the Principles into one video.

REFLECTION

Throughout these past 2 weeks, I've learned the basics of compositing, but it was hard to think of a particular direction in terms of each element.
