PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WEEK REPORT
For the professional development week (PDW), we had to attend webinars during this week in order for us final year students to hear from speakers from different industries.

Webinar 1 Monday 17th October 2022
Topic-"Financial Literacy for Fresh Graduates" by MAYBANK.
Speaker-Mr.Fairuz
Company-MAYBANK
This was the first webinar for the week the Speaker Mr. Fairuz took us through mainly how we can effectively manage and monitor our finances and that as we head out of the university into the working world there are some things, here are few things off in terms of financial planning.
Fig 1.1 Paying off High-interest debts

Paying off high-interest debts, here he talks about how it is better to take an Islamic credit card or a non-Islamic credit card the difference is that an Islamic credit card does not have compound interest so people who enjoy spending without paying back their debts as interest accumulates

while an Islamic credit card saves the individual tons of interest as they pay back their debts.
Fig 1.2 Emergency savings

Next is having Emergency savings, and having emergency funds is very crucial for example during the covid-19 pandemic it was mostly people that had emergency funds that could survive rather easily. And a general rule of emergency saving is to have 3 to 6 months’ worth of your salary saved up.

And have savings accounts specifically for emergency purposes, which must be easily accessible, many other points were discussed Mr. Fairuz also shared some tips with us on how we should make investments and spend on big purchases during our lives. Overall I enjoyed this webinar it was important to hear all this information about finance especially as we are heading out to the working world.

Webinar 2  Tuesday 18th October 2022
Topic-"Best Practices in Personal Branding Strategy via LinkedIn"
Speaker-Mr.Kent Tan
Company-PwC
Mr.Kent discussed with us the importance of having some sort of online presence as society moves forward this makes it easier for employers to find and reach you, and this in turn helps us to expand our global network as well. He also highlighted that when putting information we should try to keep the information brief and concise, I do have a Linkedin profile so the information I received today when updating my profile I will take into consideration.

Webinar 3 Wednesday 19th October 2022
Topic-"Life as a Producer in the Video Production Industry"
Speaker-Mr. Amer Wizwann
Company-LOKALAB
The main highlight of the webinar for today was Mr.Amer talking about the film industry and the different types of film production a few examples mentioned were live events, documentaries/Tv series, music videos, Wedding events, and finally, advertisements, each of these types have its unique workflow.

Generally, the same process from Research-Preproduction-Production and finally Post-production I enjoyed hearing about Mr.Amer's personal experience in the video production field.

Webinar 4  Friday 21st October 2022
Topic-Skills Needed to Excel in Digital Advertising & Branding Strategy
Speaker-Ms.Nadhrah Yunus PERUNDING KOST & K (PRT)
Company-ADZAPPR
For the 4th webinar of the week, I attended the webinar on the skills needed to excel in digital advertising and branding the main takeaway for me was insights come from data and important decisions are made using that data all this is called data literacy.

Another point Ms.Nadhah brought up was understanding Marketing channels, In this day and age brands must adopt multichannel marketing. It occurs when a brand is visible across all ideal marketing platforms that a prospect is most likely to use. Additionally, the business must make sure that each of those channels integrates with the others to give prospects a smooth experience. Other aspects like Copywriting and having Basic design skills are all essential in the digital space.

Webinar 5  Friday 21st October 2022
Topic-"Using Building Information Modelling (BIM)/3D Modelling"
Speaker-PERUNDING KOST & K (PRT)
Company-PKT & K
The final webinar for the week was a webinar by a quantity surveying company known as PKT & K which provides services for a variety of projects, both locally in Malaysia and internationally as well.

My key takeaway from this webinar was they stated the use of BIM(Building Information Modelling) which is a highly collaborative process that allows architects, engineers, real estate developers, contractors, manufacturers, and other construction professionals to plan, design, and construct a structure or building within one 3D model. I had never really heard about this process before so It was interesting to hear about this during the webinar.

Conclusion
To Summarize all the webinars I attended I found each one interesting and the insights I got from each were valuable nuggets of information from each webinar preparing and essentially equipping us final-year students to the realities of the working world and the information shared will prove to be useful as I progress in the future. I'd like to thank Career services for giving us final-year students such an eventful week it was really insightful.
