FINAL PROJECT
Problem Solving/Experimental: Develop a font that is intended to solve a larger problem or meant to be part of a solution in the area of your interest be it graphic design, animation, new media or entertainment design or any other related area not necessarily reflecting your specialization.
Idea: I was going through some popular Tv channels and I came across an American TV channel Cartoon Network which is a Children's programming, ranging from action to animated comedy. it piqued my interest that the typeface chosen for the wordings doesn't convey any sense or characteristics that Cartoons do such as playfulness

PLAN: Make a Redesigned cartoon network typeface and then use that to create headlines.
RESEARCH
I first looked up MTV and Nickelodeon as they were the suggestions given by both Lecturers, I examined MTV first.

Then I went through Nickelodeon's typeface over the years as well

PROCESS
I arranged the Current Typeface in Alphabetical Order so I have a clear view and understanding of what the type looks like from A to Z.

SKETCH
DIGITIZATION PROCESS
I began making the letters using basic shapes like rectangles and squares in order to get that digitized look.

I named my font DigiToon font. |
For the application, I decided to use my font to make titles and posters for various Cartoon Network shows as advised.
Poster of the show named Johnny Bravo with the generated typeface.
Poster of the show Regular Show with the generated typeface.
Poster of the Show PowerPuff Girls with the generated typeface

FEEDBACK

Week 11
4|11|19
Specific feedback: My key artwork wasn't up to par, Mr. Vinod and Mr Samshul said to focus on the final project as it's 40% and i showed my idea of making a type on roadsigns but that was already done.
Further feedback 11/2/2019: i showed my second idea to Mr. Vinod and he approved of it but mentioned that i shouldn't focus on animating the redesigned typeface but rather look at other examples like MTV and learn about their process and use that as a guide Mr.SamShul said something similar but with Nickelodeon.
Week 12
11|11|19
Specific feedback: Mr. Vinod and Mr. Samshul didn't comment much on my extracted typeface but only considering the look of the letters it should be consistent.
Week 13
18|11|19
General feedback : Mr. Vinod told the class to make sure that the description of our blog should be elaborated clear and concise. Besides that, we have to compile everything by next week in the final compilation.
Specific feedback: Mr. Vinod and Mr. Samshul said when I was done making the typeface I use it in a title for cartoon network shows.
REFLECTION
Experiences
Week 10
The class got canceled due to Deepavali. During this period I tried to come up with an idea the final project.
Week 11
I had to rework on my key artwork which wasn't really up to par
Week 12
Week 13
Today was the submission of our final project. i stayed up seeing how and what need ed to be tweaked, feedback that was given was to get the typeface done and make posters with the shows tiles on it.
which was a relief.
Observation
Week 10
Most of my classmates were making new typefaces based on concepts. Just like me so i could learn a bit from them.
Week 11
I wasn't happy with my work ethic hearing that my key artwork wasn't up to par, but on hearing that I made every effort to fix and fine-tune what I could.
Week 12
Almost half of my classmates were done and with some interesting pieces of work.
Week 13
i was finding it difficult to make my fonts with shapes i got use to it the more i digitized.
Findings
Week 10
i had to look around to see what others were doing to finally get an idea.
Week 11
Mr.Vinod and Mr. Samshul telling me to rework my artwork forced me to think more critically.
Week 12
Coming up with an idea required lots of trial and error.
Week 13
Digitization was quite time-consuming but required attention to detail.

Identify your purpose
Before you do anything else, first identify the purpose of your design. What information do you want to convey? What is the medium for your design?
Good design aligns its typography with its purpose. This is because typography is key to setting mood, tone, and style in your designs.
For example, if you are designing a greeting card that’s illustration-heavy, choose a font that fits the style of your illustration. Harmonize your type with the rest of your design.
Identify your audience
After determining the purpose of your design, identify your audience. This step is crucial because age and interest will influence your font options.
After clarifying the purpose of your design, identify your audience. This step is crucial because information about your users such as age, interests, and cultural upbringing could influence the decisions you make for your type.
For example, some fonts are more appropriate for children. When learning to read, children need highly legible fonts with generous letter shapes. A good example of this is Sassoon Primary. Sassoon Primary was developed by Rosemary Sassoon and based on her research into what kind of letters children found easy to read.
