Design Principles Project 2.
INSTRUCTIONS-MIB
PROJECT CRITERIA- Project 2: Go to an area (outdoors) that is near where you live, during day and night. Analyze the visual language of the location through sketches, photos, etc. Are there elements of design apparent? Are there some aspects that are constant while others change? What other senses are you using: Sounds? Smells? Touch? Your artwork should utilize 3 or more principles, consider why the principles you chose are most appropriate to communicate how this particular place is unique.
Using any medium or combination of media express the sense of the place, in A4/ A3.
- Here are a few examples Ms. Sherry Gave.

 |

 |
Fig1.3 Skatepark |
Comment: This composition was a skatepark and the student used the text to fill in space.
FIRST IDEA.
I visited a restaurant that was football themed called Offside located in Sunway Petaling Jaya.
 |
Fig 2.1 The food menu |
Comment: When i saw the environment i wasn't that shocked but it was quite different even the menu is football centered and themed but the food remains the same pasta, burgers, etc
 |
Fig 2.2 |
Comment: This were all the teams that participated in the 2018 world cup, i was happy cause I saw my country's flag Nigeria which reminded me of home.
SECOND IDEA
My second idea was to take pics of the scenery from my balcony in D'Latour at different times and also the traffic. And fuse them to get a particular composition that shows or depicts what the place is about.
 |
Fig 3.1 Sunset in the evening 7:01pm Friday 14. |
Comment: i took this using my phone and Just at the right time the sun was setting so i rushed to take a picture. i hoped to take one that was similar another day and surprisingly the Traffic wasn't much probably because it was a Friday.
 |
Fig 3.2 Sunset also in the evening 7:23PM |
Comment: This was taken on the Same day as the first which was on Friday but at a later time 7:23PM and we see the traffic slowly building up. but also the color of the sunset darkens and turns orange. But it's nice at least in my eyes.
 |
Fig 3.3 Nighttime 8:22 PM |
Comment: Night time arrived and i seized another Opportunity well i wouldn't really call it an opportunity reason being that most nights look like this haha.... and the Traffic Was less.
COMPOSITION PROCESS
 |
Fig 4.1 Working on the Nighttime Picture. |
Comment: This was the start of my composition i started to merge and fuse in photoshop but it was hard for me to come up with a sense because my environment wasn't one that is static. But i continued tinkering in photoshop.
 |
Fig 4.2 Adding the Sunset Picture to the nighttime. |
Comment: I added the Sunset picture to the Nighttime picture in the hopes to get my sense by overlaying the Sunset overnight time picture.
OUTCOMES
Outcomes after fusing and layering the 3 pictures from earlier from my Balcony view.
FINAL WORK
I decided to take another shot to see if the mood would change and work with that.
 |
Fig 6. 1 Afternoon 6:58pm Thursday |
Comment: I wanted to change the sense of the view so i took one more picture and worked with that
 |
Fig 6.2 The Night Time Picture from Earlier. |
I planned to fuse this and the Afternoon Picture to see what type of feel I'd get from both and how was it different from the other one.
 |
Fig 6.3 This was the first after the new scene |
Comment: I liked this it looked like the streets were on fire and so did sherry but she adviced that i fade the sunset with this. So i chose this for my final composition Sense of a place.
